Andy Whitfield, Spartacus Lead, Dies At Age 39
Andy Whitfield, the star of Spartacus: Blood and Sand died yesterday from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was only 39. We loved him as Spartacus and feel just awful about this news! Whitfield was diagnosed with a recurrence of the cancer last year in January and took temporary leave from the show. Unfortunately the cancer worsened and he never came back to the show.
Whitfield is survived by his two children and his wife Vashti who released this statement — “On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was.” R.I.P.
