Gwen Stefani Designs Children Clothes for Target‎

Gwen Stefani has been successful with her two existing fashion labels, L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers, so why not start a new line?

The singer will work with Target to make a children’s line of clothing and accessories called Harajuku Mini, according to the Daily Mail.

According to The Look, Stefani told a fashion trade publication that “Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super cute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan.”

Harajuku Lovers came out in 2005, and was named after the singer’s back-up dancers, the “Harajuku Girls.” Harajuku Lovers aims for “Kawaiiness,” or cuteness in Japanese. Stefani’s L.A.M.B. Line is more mainstream fashion than Harajuku Lovers.

And smaller sizes means cheaper prices compared to the 41-year-old’s other fashion lines, with prices ranging from $3.99 to $29.99 for the new children’s line.

How does Target feel about having Gwen Stefani on their fashion team? According to Daily Mail, the senior vice president of apparel and accessories of Target, Trish Adams, said that “Gwen is a creative force and her ability to create fun, wearable fashion made her an ideal partner for Target.”

Stefani has mentioned that her two sons, Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3, show similar style to the new line of Harajuku Mini, which will hit stores in November, with more styles on the way next January.

Stefani told the Daily Mail that, “The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed.”

So, take a look at what Kingston and Zuma have been sporting around town, and you’ll have an idea of what the chic and cool children’s apparel will look like. There is no website to show the line before it hits stores, so customers will just have to wait for the debut in November.

Rupert Murdoch U.K Phone Hacking Scandal

Rupert Murdoch U.K Phone Hacking Scandal - Rupert Murdoch’s refusal to take responsibility for the Phone Hacking Scandal that has slashed $5.89 billion from the market value of News Corp. (NWSA) may undermine his credibility as chief executive officer.

Governance experts who heard Murdoch’s performance before the U.K. Parliament yesterday said that by blaming underlings and saying he wasn’t responsible he didn’t do enough as CEO to acknowledge his accountability.

“If he didn’t know what was going on, he’s doing a lousy job as CEO and the board should replace him,” said Jay Lorsch, a Harvard Business School professor. “The board should be asking, ‘Where were you?’ The buck stops with him.”

Chief executive officers who don’t hold themselves responsible for crises at their companies often have stepped aside under pressure. While Murdoch’s almost 40 percent voting control makes an involuntary ouster unlikely, the weight of the crisis may ultimately persuade him to give up the CEO post, said Sydney Finkelstein, a professor of management at Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business in Hanover, New Hampshire.

“Based on the pattern we’ve seen in other major scandals, it’s likely we’ll see Murdoch resign,” said Finkelstein, author of “Why Smart Executives Fail.” “They all end up resigning.”

Rupert Murdoch, 80, withstood three hours of questioning yesterday with his son James. He denied any knowledge of phone-hacking and payments to police at the now-closed News of the World tabloid. Both Murdochs said they didn’t know about employees intercepting voicemails or paying police for stories.

Google Doodle : Gregor Mendel's 189th Birthday

Gregor Mendel's 189th Birthday - Google DoodleGoogle logo is Google's tribute to Austrian botanist and monk George Mendel on his 189th birth anniversary.

Born on July 20, 1822 in Heinzendorf, Austria (now in the Czech Pepublic) as Johann Mendel he was given the name Gregor when he joined a monastery as a novitiate of the Augustinian order.

He studied physics and mathematics at Vienna and more importantly studied the anatomy and physiology of plants under botanist Franz Unger.

Mendel began his experiments with plant hybridization at a monastery in Brunn. His choice for his experiments was the pea plant (the reason behind the peas in the Google doodle). His experiments led him to formulate the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment, which later became known as Mendel's Laws of Inheritance.

After his experiment with peas, he turned to honeybees. Mendel did not make much efforts to publicise his works and his contemporaries remained sceptical about his research. He was also consumed with administrative responsibilities of his monastic order to be able to devote much time to his scientific pursuits.

Mendel died at the age of 61 on January 6, 1884. It was only after his death, in the early 20th century, that the importance of his works was realised.

For being the architect of genetic experimental and statistical analysis, Mendel is acknowledged as the father of genetics.

Google occasionally swaps its logo for an artistic doodle These Google doodles have gained immense popularity over the past few years and the Google doodle team has put out commemorative doodles on numerous events of international or national importance, ranging from news events, civic milestones, birthdays, death anniversaries and important dates in history.

Apart from the static image doodles Google also puts up animated and interactive doodles. The last interactive doodle was to celebrate the 96th birthday of the country and jazz guitarist, songwriter and inventor, Les Paul.
