Jersey Shore's Snooki may Caused Auto Accident

Jersey Shore's Snooki may have caused an auto accident that sent two police officers to the hospital, but the reality star says fans shouldn't blame her -- just her faulty equipment.

"The brakes weren't really working in our Fiat. They were, like, old. I tried to use the brakes and they didn't work," Snooki (real name: Nicole Polizzi) told Extra of the May 30 fender bender in Florence, Italy. "So to avoid the cops, I ran right into a wall so I didn't hurt anybody."

In the wake of the crash that resulted in Snooki temporarily losing her license, the Jersey Shore gang stuck close to home. "The only time we drove was to the gym, so after that nobody went to the gym - we'd just walk around," she tells Extra.

And Snooki sure wasn't alone when it came to making headlines for erratic driving. In the Jersey Shore cast's first three weeks in Florence, they accumulated more than 300 Euro worth of various traffic violations.

Astronomers Detects Earth's Companion Trojan Asteroid

Astronomers have detected an asteroid, companion to Earth, not far from Earth, moving in the same orbit around the Sun. The 200-300m-wide rock sits in front of our planet at a gravitational "sweet spot", and poses no danger.

Its position in the sky makes it a so-called Trojan asteroid - a type previously detected only at Jupiter, Neptune and Mars. 2010 TK7, as it is known, was found by Nasa's Wise telescope. The discovery is reported in this week's Nature journal.

It is a fascinating observation because the relative stability and proximity of Trojans would make possible targets for astronaut missions when we eventually go beyond the space station.

2010 TK7 is probably not the rock of choice, simply because it travels too far above and below the plane of Earth's orbit, which would require a lot of fuel to reach it. Nonetheless, its detection means it is highly likely there are other, more suitable Trojans out there waiting to be found.

The difficulty is the viewing geometry that puts any Trojan, from the perspective of an Earth-based telescope, in bright skies. Astronaut at asteroid Trojan asteroids are considered possible targets for astronaut missions. It took an orbiting telescope sensitive to infrared light to pick up 2010 TK7.

Wise, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer launched in 2009, examined more than 500 Near-Earth Objects (NEOs), 123 of which were new to science. The authors of the Nature paper sifted through data on these rocks, looking for the candidates that might be Trojans. Follow-up work on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope confirmed the status of 2010 TK7.

It traces quite a complex path at its orbital point. Currently, it is about 80 million km from Earth, and should come no closer than about 25 million km. The team says its orbit appears stable at least for the next 10,000 years.

2010 TK7's existence should not really be a surprise. Jupiter, Neptune and Mars all have collections of rocks sitting in the so-called Lagrange points 60 degrees ahead of or behind the planets in their orbits. In the case of Jupiter, the number of Trojans now tops 1,000 rocks.

"These objects are difficult to find from Earth, simply because they're not very big and they're pretty faint, and they're close to the Sun as seen from Earth," explained Christian Veillet from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope and a co-author on the Nature study.

Scientists Devised Invisibility Cloak that Conceal Objects From Human Eye

Scientists have devised an invisibility cloak material that can hide objects from the human eye. Xiang Zhang and colleagues note that invisibility cloaks, which route electromagnetic waves around an object to make it undetectable, 'are still in their infancy'.

Most cloaks are made of materials that can only hide things using microwave or infrared waves, which are just below the threshold of human vision.

To remedy this, the researchers built a reflective 'carpet cloak' out of layers of silicon oxide and silicon nitride etched in a special pattern.

The carpet cloak works by concealing an object under the layers, and bending light waves away from the bump that the object makes, so that the cloak appears flat and smooth like a normal mirror.

Although the study cloaked a microscopic object roughly the diameter of a red blood cell, the device demonstrates that it may be capable of cloaking any object underneath a reflective carpet layer.

DOS Celebrates It's 30th Birthday

Disk Operating System or MS-DOS celebrates it's 30th birthday. The MS in MS-DOS stands for Microsoft. The OS was the backbone of most PCs for the following decade or longer.

In schools across India, DOS was one of the first things taught in computer classes. While there was no graphical user interface that we’re so used to on Windows, the operating system had everything from text editors to games and mouse support.

For example, titles such as Wolfenstein and Doom on PCs originated on DOS. Ever since Windows 95 or so, DOS has been present as a standalone product only to kick start downed systems. The last operating system to use DOS-based start up disks was Windows XP. The last commercial product used was DOS 6.22.

Three decades later, DOS is still present on Windows systems, often hidden away. You can use it by type CMD in the Run diag box. There are also DOS emulator and free versions of DOS on the web. If you want to go back in history and try out a few DOS apps and games, do check out DOSBox.

BBM Version 6 Offers Revolutionary Social App Experience to Users

RIM has introduced BlackBerry Messenger widely known as BBM version 6 to offer revolutionary social app experience to BlackBerry users, sources reported. The latest version boasts of some extended social functionality that allows application developers to incorporate a BBM experience into their apps and services.

According to the sources, the upgraded version allows users to chat and share apps with friends on BBM within games. BBM 6 will embrace BlackBerry smartphones powered with BB OS 5.0 and other updated version. However, the new version is not accessible through Bridge on the PlayBook.

While Facebook has garnered a huge following, Google+ is fast approaching in that direction. Apple too is prepping up iMessage, a tool akin to BBM to be used on iPhones and iPads.

Therefore, RIM’s updated BBM could create the foundation for an improved experience thereby saving its constantly dropping shares. RIM earlier acquired social gaming company Scoreloop to expand Messenger and allow more interaction in existing mobile games.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Come Back with Second Season

The glitzy drama of reality show, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, are back for a second season with two new faces – Brandi Glanville and Dana Wilkey – and Season 2 promises to be even more dramatic than the first.

Three of the show’s stars – Lisa Vanderpump, Taylor Armstrong and Kyle Richards – stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday, where they gave Billy Bush and guest co-host Mark-Paul Gosselaar of TNT’s “Franklin & Bash” the scoop on what to expect.

”The drama just sort of happened organically,” Lisa said, when asked if they felt the need to top their first hit season. The tumultuous relationship between sisters Kyle and Kim Richards will continue to play out in the coming season.

“Right now we’re doing better. Obviously, it was very difficult for her to come back, but at the end of the day, we’re sisters,” Kyle said of sister Kim, who briefly checked into rehab at the end of Season 1.

“We get along most of the time, but we do have a difficult, challenging relationship,” she explained. “It wasn’t easy to get her to come back.” Taylor, who is in the midst of divorcing husband Russell, also has a taxing season ahead.

“It’s very difficult. Marriage is difficult enough, but having it play out with microphones and cameras was really challenging,” she told Billy and Mark. “It unfortunately plays out all season.” As for their controversial fellow “Housewife” Camille Grammer, all three ladies were glad to have her return.

“We wanted her back,” Lisa proclaimed. “I think she’s good for the show and we had a lot of repairing to do,” Kyle added. As for new cast member (Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife) Brandi Glanville – who is seen verbally sparring with Kim in the Season 2 trailer – the ladies said she’s going to spice up their famous zip code.

“She threw a few punches,” Lisa said – speaking metaphorically – of Brandi. Lisa also stressed that there’s more to their show than the fights, name-calling and over-the-top antics. “There are stories of our lives and what’s going on,” the British restaurateur added. “It was a funky ride.” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Season 2 premiers on September 5 at 9 PM on Bravo.

Five Finger Death Punch Releases New Single- Under It And Over It

Five Finger Death Punch releases a new single on Wednesday (July 27) called "Under It And Over It". The track is making its debut on radio stations nationwide and is taken from the band's upcoming third album, "American Capitalist". The disc hits stores on October 11 and will follow up Five Finger Death Punch's gold-selling second effort, 2009's "War Is The Answer".

Regarding the song, vocalist Ivan Moodysaid "This one is about the rumors and gossip that go on everywhere — especially online. It's comical to see how much crazy, ill-informed shit people will post as news and when they're trolling around message boards. In today's day and age, speculation and bad info can just fly around the Internet and catch fire — even when it’s completely false and unfounded. Funny shit."

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory told The Pulse Of Radio that there is a theme to the record, but added that it's not a concept album. "You know, every song is different, of course, and we're never gonna really write a concept album — it's not a band that's gonna do rock operas where all the songs connect, you know, so there's always a variety of songs and themes," he said. "But there's always also a general concept that will run through a couple of songs at least."

Moody said in a statement, "I literally laid every ounce of blood I had on this one. We are a people's band. Our fans understand us because of who we are. We've never tried to be anybody else but Five Finger Death Punch."

"War Is The Answer" debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard album chart, while the single "Far From Home" reached No. 2 on the rock radio chart and the band's cover of "Bad Company" hit No. 1. A press release stated that fans can expect "another big announcement" from Five Finger Death Punch next week, probably related to tour plans.

Five Finger Death Punch played its first show with new bassist Chris Kael on July 1 at Boonstock in Gibbons, Alberta, Canada. Check out photos of the concert at this location.

Kael replaced Matt Snell, who left the group late last year for reasons that have not been disclosed. Originally from Kentucky, Kael moved to Five Finger Death Punch's home base of Las Vegas to pursue playing music full-time. He said in a statement about landing the job, "Never give up on your dreams — I'm living proof that with hard work and a little bit of luck, they can come true."

Watch: Stevie Nicks Duet with Adam Levine at Hollywood Bowl

For the band Maroon 5 at the Hollywood Bowl, fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks performed a duet with Adam Levine on Monday night. The pair sang the 1981 hit “Leather and Lace,” a song Nicks originally recorded with Don Henley.

Levine’s admiration and adoration of Nicks was clear; he said, “This is one of those moments where you don’t actually realize what you’re doing until you do it. What I’d like to do is sing this next song with one of my favorite artists of all time, and I’m sure one of yours too, God, do I love this woman.”

Levine, 32, a coach on the reality television series, “The Voice,” often voiced his appreciation of Nicks on the show.

Nicks, 63, had written the song for Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, it was actually released on “Bella Donna,” her 1981 debut solo album. “Bella Donna” sold 8 million albums.

Donovan McNabb Officially Sign his Restructured Contract

The Minnesota Vikings acquired quarterback Donovan McNabb from Washington in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. McNabb has yet to officially sign his restructured contract.

And free agent Matt Hasselbeck is leaving Seattle for Tennessee, where he probably will start. He spent the last 10 seasons with the Seahawks, leading them to the 2005 NFC title. The Titans drafted quarterback Jake Locker eighth overall in April but needed a veteran presence after Kerry Collins retired. They plan to trade or release Vince Young.

The Vikings’ deal for McNabb gives the Vikings a veteran quarterback who will play until first-round draft choice Christian Ponder is ready to take over. The deal also includes a conditional sixth-round pick in 2013. "He was going to come in and really help us win more games, but it didn’t work out," Washington linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. From the sound of it, Ponder isn’t conceding anything to McNabb yet.

"Excited to have McNabb join," Ponder wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning, perhaps jumping the gun just a little bit. "Will learn a lot from a Pro Bowler. But that doesn’t mean I’m not still fighting to start week 1!" Former Vikings quarterback Randall Cunningham thinks it’s a great deal for Minnesota.

"Donovan McNabb is in his prime now," Cunningham told the Star-Tribune. "So many people don’t realize that when quarterbacks get into their 30s, that’s really when they start to understand the game. That’s when quarterbacks become the Moseses and Abrahams of the league. At no point is Donovan too old to be an elite quarterback".

This ends a tumultuous one-year run in Washington for McNabb, a 12-year veteran. He was benched twice last season and threw 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 13 games. He and his agent, Fletcher Smith, sparred publicly with head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

Geri Halliwell Unveils Evening Dress Collection

Geri Halliwell, the former Spice Girl has launched her own range of evening gowns. She has unveils her own swimwear collection with British high street store Next - has once again teamed up with the chain to create the dresses, which she says are stylish yet affordable.

Speaking about the new line, Geri said: "I've been sketching everything myself and I'm thrilled with the results. I've had the opportunity to make dresses that are not stupidly expensive but still elegant enough to wear to an upmarket event."

Geri by Next consists of six full-length occasion dresses which will be available from early October starting from £89 in sizes six to 22.

Geri - whose former Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham also has her own fashion range - recently revealed she has always designed her own clothes. She said: "I've always loved fashion, I've always made my own clothes.

"The first time I was on TV I wore something on 'GMTV' that I'd made myself. The seams were coming undone, but I did design it! I've always designed my own clothes from a very young age. It was a very natural thing for me."

Miami Dolphins 2011 Training Camp

Miami Dolphins Training Camp: Chad Henne will be taking the first snap under center when the Dolphins break camp at their South Florida facility, though it remains to be seen whether the returning starting quarterback will be doing the same once the season starts.

Miami is rumored to be on the lookout for competition for the inconsistent fourth-year pro, with Denver's Kyle Orton heavily mentioned as a potential trade target, as it seeks to upgrade an offense that produced the third-fewest points in the NFL in 2010.

Even if management decides to keep Henne in the No. 1 role, the Dolphins need to add bodies at the position with injury-prone backup Chad Pennington taking the year off and third-stringer Tyler Thigpen exiting via free agency. Quarterback isn't the only spot in question on the roster, as running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are unrestricted free agents the team doesn't seem overly eager to bring back.

Rookie Daniel Thomas, Miami's second-round selection in April's draft, enters the preseason as the front-runner in the backfield, though it's presumed the club will add a veteran to lessen the youngster's load. There are also spots to be settled along the offensive line, with first-round pick Mike Pouncey expected to get a shot to win the starting center's job once he's signed.

Nate Clements Contract to Count $17 Million Against the 49ers

Nate Clements would clear more than enough salary-cap room for the San Francisco 49ers to sign Nnamdi Asomugha. Whether or not Clements' release is imminent, Clements' current contract is obviously untenable. Something has to give whether or not the 49ers wind up landing Asomugha. Clements' contract is scheduled to count more than $17 million against the 49ers' salary cap this season.

Releasing Clements would mean the 2007 free-agent addition from the Buffalo Bills would not receive $42.5 million in salaries for the 2011 through 2014 seasons. The team has paid $13.5 million to him in salaries to this point, plus a $10 million option bonus. The contract also included $500,000 in annual workout bonuses.

Clements has preferred to work out on his own, forgoing the offseason bonus money, but the new labor agreement will entitle him to $100,000 of his $500,000 workout bonus this season if the 49ers release him Thursday, the earliest point teams can release players.

Clements started 53 of 64 regular-season games for the 49ers, including all 16 last season. He picked off 10 passes after collecting 23 interceptions in his first six seasons, all with Buffalo. Clements could be a physical player against the run and pass alike. He gave Larry Fitzgerald problems at times, relatively speaking.

Some 49ers fans I heard from expected more from an $80 million cornerback, but Clements isn't going to collect that much money from the team. Simply put, he has been a good player making good money by NFL standards.

Miami Discuss Trade that Send Kyle Orton to the Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins engaged in contract negotiations with Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton. That would indicate that the Broncos are fairly far along in trade talks with teams, to the point where the biggest issue may not be the compensation the Broncos would get. It may be whether Orton can agree to a new contract.

Orton apparently wants to go to a team that views him as a long-term starter, and not as a placeholder to hold onto the job just long enough to get a young quarterback ready. So the dynamic with Orton is looking like the dynamic with Donovan McNabb, where the Redskins and Vikings are willing to deal and now the question is whether McNabb is willing to sign on the dotted line.

Meanwhile, although Tim Tebow showed up bright and early for the first day of Broncos camp, Orton was reportedly one of the last players to arrive. One way or another, Orton appears to be just about done in Denver.

Stevie Nicks Performance on America's Got Talent Results Show

Stevie Nicks, the legendary performer took the stage on the America's Got Talent Results Show to share her musical talent for everyone who was watching the results of the third week of the quarterfinals.

Nicks performed on AGT, but the talented entertainer is taking one of the America’s Got Talent acts on Stage too. The entertainer will be touring with Michael Grimm when she hits the road August 9.

While the 12 acts were learning their fate, the AGT audience got the chance to really see how hard work and incredible talent could achieve absolute success watching this superstar.

Stevie Nicks, who has been on the music scene for decades, is one of the most inspiring entertainers in the business. Nicks’ solo career, along with her work with Fleetwood Mac have sold over 140 million albums to date. Known around the world, the award winning artist has a voice that is extraordinarily distinctive.

America's Got Talent Third Quarterfinal Results

"America's Got Talent" semifinals on Wednesday night was terribly surprising about the four acts- Sinatra singer Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., the band of youngsters called Poplyfe and operatic beauty Lys Agnes, along with death-defying belly-flopper Professor Splash. And maybe that's why the producers seemed to feel they had to work extra hard to generate suspense.

First they faked us out, lining up cheesy cheerleaders Purrfect Angelz, stellar yo-yoer Ian Johnson and acrobatic rope-jumpers Summerwind Skippers only to announce -- after a long pause, of course -- that none of them had made it through.

That was a little surprising. But then they tried to fake us out again, calling Murphy and Poplyfe to the stage, presumably so that one of them could be eliminated. But was anyone shocked to learn that both of those acts would be going through? Or to learn that, out of a group that included novelty act Mauricio Herrera, creepy sideshow couple Captain & Maybelle, note-missing 12-year-old singer Monet and the gorgeous Agnes, who did not miss a vocal or stylistic note on Tuesday night, it was Agnes who would be moving on to the semifinals?

And surely, once we had to endure the discomfort of watching the three adorable tykes (ages 5, 6 and 7) known as the SH'Boss Boys deprived of their dreams (Where were their mommies? And how sad was it to watch that one little boy jump up and down, thinking that the group had won, as one of his groupmates hollered "No!"?), did anyone really think the judges would put through disappointing illusionist (disillusionist?) Seth Grabel instead of rewarding the unusual Professor Splash for setting a world record live on their show?

On Tuesday night, Grabel had promised boiling tar and had delivered fluff. The Splashman had jumped from three stories into a foot of water; he had the bruises to prove it. The judges dutifully followed their split-decision script (as they had the script for the Smurf plug that kicked off the show), but really, it was no contest.

At the end of the day, the only real shocker Wednesday night (aside from how great Stevie Nicks, for whom "America's Got Talent" Season 5 winner Michael Grimm will open on her tour this summer, looks and sounds at age 63) is just how canned this "surprising" results show came off.

Mets Demand for Top Pitching Prospect in Trade for Carlos Beltran

Brian McCann strained an oblique muscle in his left side Tuesday, Braves general manager Frank Wren did not hurriedly call New York and cave to the Mets’ demand for a top pitching prospect in a trade for Carlos Beltran. Some Braves fans probably wished he would have.

With the Sunday non-waiver trade deadline approaching, folks are getting anxious about the Braves, whose already inconsistent offense was dealt a big blow with the injury to McCann during Tuesday’s 19-inning marathon win against Pittsburgh.

The All-Star catcher strained his side making a throw to second base in the 10th inning and was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. Veteran backup David Ross will serve as primary catcher until McCann returns and journeyman J.C. Boscan was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to serve as backup.

“It’s very frustrating,” said McCann, who hopes to return after 15 days. “The timing of it — it’s the second, maybe third time I’ve been on the DL — I pride myself on getting out there every day. It’s frustrating, but I need to get this thing healed so it doesn’t turn into something a lot longer.”

Center fielder Jordan Schafer, the team’s lead off hitter, also landed on the DL Wednesday for lingering soreness in his left middle finger, from the chip fracture he sustained last week when he jammed his hand into second base on a head-first slide at Colorado.

Outfielder Wilkin Ramirez was recalled from Gwinnett and in the lineup Wednesday in place of right fielder Jason Heyward, who was hitting .167 against left-handers. Pirates lefty Paul Maholm started Wednesday.

With their best hitter (McCann) and only serious stolen-base threat (Schafer) on the DL, and Chipper Jones having just returned from arthroscopic knee surgery and now nursing a sore quadriceps that limited him to pinch-hitter for the past two games, conventional wisdom said the Braves would feel a bit more of a sense of urgency to make a trade for offense.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said on Wednesday that was not the case. The Braves acquired veteran catcher Wil Nieves from the Brewers organization in a minor trade for cash considerations. Nieves will share catching duties at Gwinnett with Wilkin Castillo.

Rakhi Sawant: I Want to Marry Baba Ramdev

Baba Ramdev is Rakhi Sawant’s new love interest. While in Delhi recently, the 32-year-old item girl stayed true to her moniker ‘motormouth’, when she announced that she wants to marry the yoga guru.

“He is Baba for you, mere liye to Swami Ramdev hain. I like him a lot. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was my dream man but, now, I have changed my choice to Swami Ramdev.”

“Jab bhi main unhe dekhti hun mujhe kuchh ho jaata hai. Unki aankhein mujhe sabse zyaada attract karti hai. I want to marry him,” says the actor, who was in the Capital on Tuesday to promote her TV show Gajab Desh Ki Ajab Kahaaniyaan on Imagine TV.

A supporter of Ramdev’s activism against black money, she says he will be unable to make a difference without her help. “Haan agar main unke saath joint (sic) ho jaoon to shayad kuchch ho sakta hai. Phir hum dono saath mein police ke dande khayenge,” she says, adding seriously that she plans to invite Ramdev on her show and propose to him.
