Noida Extension Flat Buyers Welfare Association, expecting that the Allahabad High Court will admit its applications on July 26 to become a party in the cases related to land acquisition in Greater Noida. Noida Extension Flat Buyers Welfare Association represents nearly 30,000 affected flat owners.In two separate orders, the High Court has quashed the acquisition of about 750 hectares of land from farmers by the Greater Noida Development Industrial Authority (GNIDA), affecting more than 26,000 flat-owners and about 20 realty projects of developers, including Amrapali and Supertech.
Last week, the High Court had deferred till July 26 its hearing on a petition challenging the acquisition of more than 460 hectare of land in Noida Extension, part of Greater Noida. The court is likely to club other related petitions.
"We have filed 41 impleadment applications in Allahabad High Court urging that we must be given an opportunity to be heard before a decision is taken," Noida Extension Flat Buyers Welfare Association (NEFBWA) Treasurer Rahul Sharma said.
"We are hoping that court will admit our applications to become a party in the land acquisition cases between farmers and the authority," he added. In Noida Extension, an estimated 2.5 lakh houses are planned and out of that about one lakh units have already been sold by builders.
On July 6, the Supreme Court had upheld the Allahabad High Court's order to quash acquisition of 156 hectare of land from farmers in the Shahberi village of Greater Noida. Last week, the High Court passed another order quashing the acquisitions of 589.13 hectares of land acquired from the farmers.
Yesterday, hundreds of flat buyers under the banner of NEFBWA held a peace march in Noida to raise their concern over the land acquisition issue. "We want our flats at committed price. We do not want refund of the money," NEFBWA President R P Tyagi had said.
