Glenn Beck Mistakes Michele Bachmann

Glenn Beck doesn't like a lot of things. You're probably one of those things, and so is Michele Bachmann's Good Morning America performance yesterday. But it wasn't her fault. It was the "hack" journalist's -- George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos, or as Beck calls him, "Mr. Snuffleupagus," asked Bachmann the question: "You said ‘my voice is part of a movement to take back our country.’ From whom?" To which Bachmann replied: "Well from the people all across the nation."

Seems pretty black and white to me.

Beck insists Stephanopoulos "did not follow up because he’s a dishonest journalist” and he "aired this to make her look stupid." Oh, and he also thinks, "Stephanopoulos and ABC television is such a hack."

First thing's first, Beckapagus, Michele Bachmann doesn't need anybody -- not George Stephanopoulos nor Bozo the clown -- to make her look stupid. If she's been wildly successful at anything, it's looking stupid. From her John Wayne Gacy flub to her inappropriate usage of a Katy Perry song, Bachmann has been batting a thousand in the idiocy department from the get-go.

And secondly, what if Stephanopoulos was trying to make her look stupid (he wasn't)? What if he did have an agenda? Surely, you, Mr. Beck, know a thing or two about that. Let's play the what-if game quick.

What if you were to interview a Planned Parenthood "hooker," or person for gun control, or a regular ol' gay person, or even rampant racist Barack Obama? Would you not try to paint them into a corner? Surely, you would do everything in your power to make him or her look stupid. And you would air it how you pleased after combing over every last editing detail. You are not a come-as-you-are journalist with an open mind, Mr. Beck. You want the world at large to adopt your archaic, cockamamie views, all while endorsing any little thing you can get your hands on. Shilling Goldline? Really, Mr. Beck? It's really the "only gold company you use"? If that's not hacky, I don't know what is.

So, here's an idea. Why don't you just continue pushing your off-the-wall agenda on Americans, but stay out of other people's? I'm sure you can do that, right? At least until Michele Bachmann makes an ass out of herself again.

Javier Colon was crowned the inaugural winner of "The Voice," NBC's new singing contest.

Colon triumphed over three other finalists when the audience vote was announced on Wednesday's live season finale. He will receive a $100,000 prize and a recording contract.

A slim, 2 percent margin separated Colon from second-place Dia Frampton, 23, of Utah, host Carson Daly said. The other finalists were Vicci Martinez, 26, of Tacoma, Washington, and Beverly McClellan, 41, of Virginia.

"Wow, thank you," a stunned-looking Colon said as confetti rained down on him. "The three women behind me are absolutely awesome and it was a pleasure to be here with them."

"The Voice" featured pop stars Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as "coaches" for the contestants. In a twist on the talent show format, the contestants initially were picked sight unseen and on the basis of their voice.

Colon was coached by Maroon 5 frontman Levine, who lifted his arms in victory when Colon's name was announced and then rushed on stage to hug him. Shelton, who coached Frampton, smiled and applauded.

The other pro-contestant pairings were McClellan-Aguilera and Martinez-Green.

During the live finale, the contestants had the chance to perform with other famous singers. Miranda Lambert, who is married to fellow country star Shelton, sang with Frampton; Stevie Nicks with Colon; Pat Monahan of Train with Martinez and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder with McClellan.

Based on a Dutch series, "The Voice" proved a much-needed ratings hit for NBC and will return to the network's lineup. The next season's casting call is under way at NBC's website.

Besides the blind audition, the show brought another fresh wrinkle to TV: rocker McClellan and bluesy singer Martinez are openly gay. That contrasts with TV's No. 1 singing show, "American Idol," which has included gay singers who didn't address their sexuality until after the competition ended, such as Adam Lambert.

The four finalists will start a six-city concert tour in late July.

MySpace.com Sold for $35 Million. News Corporation bought it for $580 Million in 2005

MySpace was sold on Wednesday to the advertising targeting firm Specific Media for roughly $35 million, sparking a renewed interest in the site which in recent years has faded into the background. The franchise was bought in 2005 by News Corporation for a whopping $580 million.
The social networking site has a long and storied history from its meteoric rise and then its slow descent into pop culture past. MySpace used to be ubiquitous on the Internet at one point dominating even Google and quickly distinguished itself as a site with more than just a social feature.

It was a place for bands to launch music careers (Lily Allen and Boys Like Girls), discover future television personalities (Tila Tequila) and launch careers in a multitude of platforms. Since its spectacular rise beginning in 2005 with the purchase of the site by News Corps. Robert Murdoch, the site suddenly began to boom.

In between 2005 through 2006, MySpace grew from two million users to 80 million and that was just the beginning, even when Facebook started making waves it still held its title of the most popular social platform on the Internet until 2008. Since then, the site has fallen into obscurity. Today's news that it was sold by News Corp for a .06 percent of its asking price back in 2005 cements it as an Internet relic.

"It's a shame that MySpace's value has diminished so severely since the acquisition; MySpace's pioneering of social networking (now referred to as social media) will always be revered as igniting a new medium," Richard Rosenblatt, the chairman of MySpace at the time of the sale to the News Corporation said in an e-mail according to nytimes.com.

Well, MySpace may hold no relevance in today's social media firestorm, but at a time it pioneered socializing online, no matter how sketchy.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Review

Transformers film features some stupidly amazing action, but falls short storywise in its lack of a decent villain. Also, while the much ballyhooed 3-D does force director Michael Bay to cool it on the quick cuts, it's not as effectively utilized as in, say, Green Lantern or Kung Fu Panda 2.

The Bigger Picture: Despite a phenomenally huge take at the box office, Revenge of the Fallen was generally perceived to be as hated as Jar Jar Binks, and so movie three goes back to the formula of the first film, with downtown Chicago getting trashed instead of whatever fictional city downtown L.A. was supposed to be in part one.

Unfortunately, it also duplicates the original's skimpy use of arch-villain Megatron (voiced by Hugo Weaving), who has a cool new look but almost no effect on the plot whatsoever—it's as if Weaving were only available for one day in the recording booth.

The vast majority of machine villainy this time comes courtesy of generic drones, with newcomer Shockwave (voiced by original Megatron Frank Welker) registering less as a character than the giant robot sandworm he rides.

On the human side, Patrick Dempsey makes a species-appropriate foe for Shia LaBeouf's Sam, who's now living in D.C. looking for his first job, while shacking up with new girlfriend Carly (model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her big acting debut, managing to pull off being sweet, at least). The plot involves an alternate history of the space race, complete with awkward splice-ups of actual news footage of presidents (prior and current) and badly made-up actors of same.

Original Autobot leader Sentinel Prime (voice of Leonard Nimoy, who's excellent) is still buried on the moon; when the current crop of Transformers goes on a mission to revive him, a master plan involving a long-dormant ultimate weapon kicks into gear.

And this wouldn't be a Michael Bay Transformers movie without a broad range of total stereotypes. New robots on the good-side come in Irish, Cockney, and Spanish caricatures, while Alan Tudyk reprises his irritating gay-German shtick from 28 Days as John Turturro's random new sidekick (Ken Jeong, of all people, comes off as one of the most restrained performers in the film). On both the man and machine side, the story such as it is gets moved forward by totally new characters we've never seen before but are expected to accept as longtime allies. At times, this feels like The Room with robots.

All the action stuff is suitably epic and has seemingly been staged with criticisms of the other movies in mind. There are more wide shots to establish the geography of the robot fights, and the combatants come in more colors than gray—heck, a couple of the Autobots, being NASCAR-styled, have giant advertisements on their chests.

American singer Katharine Hope McPhee, who finished as runner-up in American Idol Season 5, made an appearance at NBC's The Voice to promote her upcoming new musical drama Smash.

cPhee talked about NBC’s new show where she will appear alongside FlashForward star Jack Davenport and Will & Grace’s Debra Messing.

McPhee also said she would be performing her own version of one of Coach’s several hits. McPhee said she would also be performing her own version of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful on the new show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Smash, which is a musical drama, revolves around a group of characters who come together to put on a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. But before that can happen, the people who will try to bring it all together must deal with their own personal acts.

The series will feature original music by composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. NBC opted to hold the show for mid-season in order to pair it up with the hit reality show The Voice on Monday nights, according to New York Times.

Smash is an upcoming American National Broadcasting Company (NBC) series set to premiere in the 2011/2012 mid-season. Smash stars Debra Messing (Will & Grace), McPhee (American Idol) and Oscar winner Anjelica Huston (Prizzi's Honor).

Halle Berry went to family court this morning, complaining her baby daddy, Gabriel Aubry, violated the custody agreement they struck over Nahla, and to reinforce her point, her lawyer submitted a lengthy court document claiming Gabriel has put Nahla at risk.



Sources tell TMZ ... Halle is concerned for 3-year-old Nahla when she's in the care of Gabriel. Our sources would not be specific about the violations, but we're told it has to do with requirements Gabriel was supposed to follow when he had custody of Nahla.

The lengthy documents go into great detail about Gabriel's parenting skills, claiming there was once an incident overseas when Gabriel allegedly neglected Nahla, imperiling her safety.

Halle wanted the judge to find Gabriel in violation of the custody order. Gabriel was not in court today, and the judge set a hearing on the matter for later.

Princess Diana is Alive On the Cover of Newsweek

On the cover of Newsweek this week, Princess Diana is alive, well and walking with her daughter-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cornwall. It's an interesting idea but the computer-generated image is creepy.



The article inside was written by Diana biographer and longtime provocateur Tina Brown. She's also Newsweek's editor-in-chief, having taken over after her online publication, the Daily Beast, merged late last year with the decades-old publication.

"What would she have been like?" Brown writes of Diana, who would have turned 50 on Friday, nearly 14 years after her death in a Paris car crash. "Still great-looking: that's a given."

The magazine's new issue also features an imagined Diana Facebook page and a slideshow comparing the fashion styles of Diana and Middleton, who married Diana's oldest child, Prince William, in April.

About the cover, a Los Angeles Times headline asked, "Shocking, brilliant or just plain cheap?" An Atlantic Wire headline added, "How Creepy Is Princess Diana's Ghost on the Cover of Newsweek?"

Brown's answer: Not at all.

"We wanted to bring the memory of Diana alive in a vivid image that transcends time and reflects my piece," she said in a statement Tuesday.

World's Ugliest Dog : Yoda

Yoda, a 14-year-old Chihuahau by the name of Yoda was crowned the World's Ugliest Dog at the weekend.

Judges in California named the Chinese-crested Chihuahau the winner of the competition at the Sonoma-Marin Fair.

Owner Terry Schumacher says that the first time she encountered the tiny dog behind an apartment building in America, she ran away, thinking that it was a large rat. But when she returned, she realised that it was in fact a dog.

She took in the pooch, which weighs less than a kilogramme, and named it after the Jedi master from the Star Wars.

Other finalists of all shapes and sizes were missing limbs and eyes. The World's Ugliest Dog competition helps to raise awareness around rescue dogs.

Anushka sharma, who landed here yesterday at 2.30 pm from the IIFA award ceremony in Toronto was let off, past midnight after nine hours of questioning. Her statement has been recorded and she will be called for questioning again if required, Customs Commissioner, P M Govande told PTI.

Customs officials are also verifying the documents provided by her claiming that the belongings were taken from India, he said.

The 23-year-old 'Baand Baaja Baraat' star claimed that while going abroad, she had taken the valuables from India and had declared the goods at that time and hence need not pay the duty.

The 'Band Baaja Barat' star was stopped by the Customs while passing through the green channel after she was found in possession of gold and diamond-studded jewellery and two watches collectively worth Rs 35 lakhs approximately, officials said.

Actress Minissha Lamba had been detained by the Customs in May for carrying dutiable jewellery that she had not declared while Bipasha Basu had been stopped at the airport for carrying valuables from abroad recently.

The Crime Branch has found out the girl was taken to Bangalore and different parts of Tamil Nadu and presented before lot of people. The investigation team has so far identified 60 of the 100 people, incuding film personalities who had used the girl.

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price Facing Federal Offenses

John Wiley Price,Dallas County Commissioner, has served the community, but Monday he was served with a search warrant that indicates he is facing serious federal offenses, like bribery and theft.




"I have no clue where they are going with this," Price said, from his attorney's office.

Price says he learned he was the focus of the federal probe when he arrived at his office at the Dallas County Administration Building, there FBI and agents with the IRS searched Price's office and personal items. Outside, they photographed two vehicles registered to the commissioner's political consultant, Kathy Nealy.

Court documents indicate FBI investigators are casting a wide net, searching for electronic devices, email and internet searches that includes data dating back to 2001.

"It is a good day in Dallas," said Dallas County Commissioner, Maurine Dickey, who has long been a nemesis of Price.

That feeling of celebration did not sit well with Dallas County Judge, Clay Jenkins.

"This is sad. We should not revel in this."

The FBI refused to comment on the investigation, but there are reports the investigation might stem, in part, from a South Dallas land development called the 'Inland Project."

Even though Price claims he was unaware of the investigation, a former colleague says he informed Price about the FBI inquiry about two years ago, during a deposition.

"I don't think that he was aware of it until that moment," Former Dallas Couny Judge, Jim Foster, said.

Foster says he met with the FBI several times regarding Price and while he will not elaborate on the context of the allegations he says they are serious and overdue.

"There are a lot of people celebrating because they lived under the intimidation of this individual."

Price isn't addressing the allegations, but says he will be vindicated and isn't worried.

"I have lawyers," Price said, leaving the county building.

La Toya Jackson writes in her new book "Starting Over" that the first question that ran through her mind after she learned of her brother's death was, "Who killed Michael?"
The book is scheduled to go on sale next week, two years after the pop star's death of a sedative overdose. Dr. Conrad Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and trial is set for September.

La Toya Jackson says her brother often predicted he would be killed over his estate and music publishing catalog.

She also says she learned a lot about Michael's well-being in the days before his death. His daughter Paris told her that "Daddy was always cold" and that "he would always cry."

La Toya Jackson writes that she confronted Dr. Conrad Murray in the hospital shortly after her brother was pronounced dead to find out what happened and that he gave her only "evasion and excuses."

She also writes that she searched Jackson's bedroom and found it "torn to pieces," with furniture overturned and items scattered about. They included notes she believes were written by Michael indicating that he needed his father Joseph's help to get "these people out of my life" and that he "only agreed to 10 shows."

When he died on June 25, 2009, Jackson was a few weeks away from kicking off a string of 50 shows at The O2 Arena in London. Originally only 10 concerts were announced, but tickets sold out in less than an hour and 40 more shows were added.

Rep. Michele Bachmann will seek the Republican presidential nomination, she announced Monday evening during CNN’s GOP presidential debate in New Hampshire.

Instead of answering moderator John King’s first question, the Minnesota Republican said that she had turned in her paperwork to become an official candidate and that a more formal announcement would be forthcoming. Bachmann had been expected to announce her candidacy at some point in June in Iowa.

Bachmann recently hired Republican strategist Ed Rollins to run her campaign, and her chief of staff, Andy Parrish, recently stepped down to work for Bachmann in an unidentified job, presumably on her campaign.

Jyotirmoy Dey, Mid Day journalist Shot dead by 4 unidentified men in Mumbai

Senior crime reporter Jyotirmoy Dey, who spent most of his reporting career revealing the goings on in the Mumbai underworld, was shot at by four assailants, reportedly from the underworld, near his home in Powai today. He was immediately rushed to the Hiranandani Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

J Dey was working as Editor, Investigations, for the Mid-Day newspaper.Talking about Dey’s death, Mid-Day executive editor Sachin Kalbag said, “All of us here are in a state of shock. His loss is tremendous not only to Mid-Day, but also to the science and art of crime reporting."

Dey has written about Dawood Ibrahim, Chotta Rajan and others and it is reported that he was currently working on a series of Dawood. He has written extensively on the underworld. Due to his insightful stories, Dey had been regularly getting death threats.

Dey has written two books - ‘Zero Dial: The Dangerous World of Informers’ and ‘Khallas’ which is considered to be a dictionary on Mumbai’s underworld.

M F Hussain Passed died of heart attack in London Hospital

M F Hussain, India's most celebrated painter living in exile following his controversial works that angered a section of Hindus, is dead, reported Hindustan Times on Thursday. The paper said he died in a London hospital at 2.30 am on Thursday. He died of heart attack, reports said.

Maqbool Fida Husain, born September 17, 1915, at Pandharpur, India was on self-imposed exile in Qatar and UK among other places after he got death threats. Venue depicting his works had been ransacked too in India.

According to Forbes magazine, he has been called the "Picasso of India".
Hussain's paintings, especially his works depicting Hindu deities in nude, angered the saffron groups and some of his works had fetched over 2 million US dollars in recent auctions in UK.

He was one of the highest paid Indian painters. In January, 2010, he was offered the citizenship of Qatar, which he accepted. He also made several experimental films with top Bollywood stars. He held his first solo exhibition in 1952 in Zurich.

Mysore city Wild elephants Rampage, one killed

One person was killed and four injured when a wild elephant ran amok in the city this morning damaging vehicles and shops.

It all began when people woke up to noises of animals only to find a herd of wild jumbos enter the Bannimantapa area.

Three elephants, including a female, entered the city running amok and causing damage to shops and vehicles parked on the roadside.



A male elephant, which entered a shopping complex, killed 55-year-old Renuka Prasad, working as a security guard before rushing out.

Ater running a few kilometers through the city roads, one of the elephants entered the Sayaji Rao Road and, later, the Maharani’s College.

However, the college was yet to open its gates. It moved towards the Deputy Commissioner Office when forest officials tried to tranquilise the elephant. However, the shots missed the animal.

Later, the wild elephant went to JSS Women’s College compound where forest officials tried hard to control it.

Eyewitness accounts said the herd was first sighted by people on the outskirts of the city on the Mysore-Bangalore highway.

“Nothing has been finalised as of now, but we have an overall blueprint. After their arrival, they will spend the next three days before the match in some charity events.

“We are thinking of organising a football clinic for talented kids selected from all across the country. They would be lucky to spend some time with Messi and the likes, which definitely would benefit them.”

“They will also have a practice session, for which tickets will be available to the public, as we cannot be expected to accommodate everyone for the September 2 tie,” he added.

The match timing and approximate ticket rates were also announced during the conference.

“The match should start at 7.00pm. Though we have not finalised the ticket prices, they should range from Rs 1000 to 5000,” Goswami said.

Motorola's unannounced Droid 3 smartphone has already seen leaked images, but now we've got video. Three tutorials of the device have leaked on YouTube, courtesy of PhonePads, destroying Verizon's and Motorola's efforts to hide details of what the third-generation Droid will have in store.

The Motorola Droid 3 is a five-row QWERTY slider (there's a number row now), featuring an 8 megapixel camera that is apparently capable of 1080p HD video recordings. Other changes over the Droid and Droid 2 include a pair of volume keys on the right edge (instead of the usual rocker), the apparent lack of a dedicated camera button, the migration of the power button from the top right of the phone to the top center, and both micro-USB and mini-HDMI on the left edge. Mike Tyson, who started raising pigeons while he was still a teenager, will race his feathered friends for the very first time.

The former world heavyweight champion's attempt to make a name for himself in the competitive world of pigeon racing will be chronicled on the Animal Planet show Taking On Tyson.

"Pigeons are a part of my life. It's a constant with my sanity in a weird way, this is just what I do," said the 45-year-old Brooklyn native in a press statement.

Tyson who threw his first punch when a neighbourhood bully killed one of his beloved pigeons and his team enter their first race competing against two big names from the New York scene.

Tyson's aim is to prove himself as a pigeon man and gain the acceptance of the competitive and macho pigeon racing community.

The team also faces one of their biggest challenges, a 350 mile race with over 900 birds.
